Small announcement for the community.
We decided to change the level you need, in order to 'welcome new members'.
It used to be LvL 2, but a few hours ago, I asked Bas to change it to ' LvL 3 '.

Some of you might wonder why, but the reason for this is simple.
I'm already noticing, that some users post little 'welcomes' like :

'Hey [name], welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll enjoy.'.

And this is obviously whoring out XP. Don't deny it.
Lvl 3 takes a while to get (I'm not even LvL 3 at the moment), so I think this would be a decent solution.

I might even change it so LvL 4, but we'll see about that later.
Lets just get to LvL 3 first.

Can the admins still post welcomes though?
Just wondering cause otherwise like no one would welcome them (for now anyway) and they might not come back

And yes, crew can post everywhere, at any time.
So we'd still welcome new members.

These level restrictions are only for 'members'
Almost anyone with a crew medal is allowed to 'bypass' these restrictions but that makes sense I think

Hopefully this will do some good to the introduction section!

I think that this is an illogical solution. I realize that getting to level three requires more time and dedicated posts but what about once you reach level three? Aren't you just going to spam the introduction section to get higher to level four? It seems you're just delaying the inevitable.

By then you should be a well respected member
So you are less likely to just post for the sake of it

As of right now it might mean that you're a more respected member, but what about a few weeks from now? Nearly everyone will be at level three just by posting on a semi-daily basis. Are you saying naturally that all members at level three are going to be the well respected and more intelligent members? I really don't think so.

No I'm not saying that everyone is going to be like that
But that is the general idea of it
I see what you mean though, someone who is annoying who just posts far too much can easily get to level 3 compared to say a really talented person who rarely posts at all

We're still at the very beginning of this community, if you turn out to be right we might want to look for some other solution.

However I think the higher the level, the less people will post on every topic (of course you always will have a few people who will keep doing that but well)

If you're a really hardcore user, you're not going to spend all your time welcoming members, but if you do you're a real hardcore user that has been around for quite a while =]
