IMO I think there should be a sub section Titled Tutorials to make thing a little more organized. Also in animation help you should put a FAQ of flash but again this is my opinion

Yeah, lets not create a 'basbucket' lol.
Though a tutorial section could be made. Though I'm not sure if I want everyone to post up tutorials... some just aren't good enough tbh.

How about a featured tutorial section?

So crew can pick featured tutorials and put them in a certain forum, topic, or section of the site?

Yea, but then we would also need a "non-featured" tutorial section. ?

Wouldn't we?

Sounds like a good idea, Bas.
Tutorial section, with tutorials selected and discussed by the crew members.
So no nooby' tutorials anymore.

Nah man.
If you're a amazing animator, but still Lvl 1, you should be able to post your stuff.
Its all 'skill', on this one.

Sorry to intervene like this.

But what is 'good enough'?

Something that is useful? Aren't all tutorials useful in one way or another? Even if they are super simple, they still explain something. Are you worried about clogging up the forum? You shouldnt be. You have 3 topics for complete spam. That is going to get out of control and slow down the forum more than a link or two in seperate topics.

A tutorial is a tutorial. Whether or not YOU as an animator find it helpful, doesn't change another animators learning preference. For EG. a tutorial is terrible, the animation is terrible, but the concept is correct. You might not like that, but maybe I do. Say there is another tutorial, with awesome animation but terrible concept and doesnt explain anything. I consider it to be a nooby tutorial, but you dont. What does that make it?

Every bit of information is useful whether it may look like a good learning resource in your eyes or somebody elses. I know what kind of tutorials are terrible, like the 6 frame next > and previous < tutorials you are talking about. Sure, maybe a moderator can do his job and quietly delete the topic and PM the user about the quality. But most tutorials are useful. Why turn the tutorials section into an elitist system like the rest of the forum board?

'Good enough' is the balance between the quality and the "use" of the tutorial

i.e. A tutorial about how to add AS to a button, we will pick the one that is the simples, easy to understand and has a good explanation.
If we're talking about a walking tutorial, it's mainly based on the quality of the animation and the explanation ('guidance') on how to animate it like that

What I think KB is saying here Dark-M, is that we want to maintain a certain level of quality and a certain structure

Tutorials should be clear, and easy to find

This can only be done if someone 'sorts' the tutorials
Just take a look at everybody's introduction topic, we all had to write an introduction topic but we all wrote something completely different, my point I'm trying to make is the advantage of a featured tutorial section is that it won't become chaos.

Of course we would LOVE to see other tutorials as well, they could (if you ask me) be posted in the help section (Animation Help, if it's an animation tutorial) and if we think it should be featured it will be structured and featured so we can keep up the quality of the featured tutorials

please let me know if you disagree, you have any questions, ideas or suggestions =]

Disagree.
I seriously don't need to see 12 tutorials, all explaining the same concept. This'll happen.
I also seriously don't want to see some guy post up a tutorial, made in MS Paint, explaining how to activate the 'brush' tool. This stuff just isn't important enough.

We need to maintain a certain skill standard here. Enough with all the beginners trying to teach.

If you show us your tutorial, and we find it helpful in general (so not according to my own preferences), it'll be posted.

At least, thats how I feel about it.

Hmmm i have to agree with kkb.

I dont like to see useless tuts or tuts made by someone who isnt skilled in animating.

Lets put it this way. All tutorial can be helpful in their own aspect.

The tutorial that are hand-picked out and featured means that these tutorial are recommended by it's crew members. Which means to say the featured tutorials are more capable in helping out animators. However, if those who still could not understand the tutorial, they can simply go to the tutorial section where there's tons more tutorials there and find one. If not, they can suggest a tutorial.

I think that'll do.
