Wow! I love the first one, it has a sense of 3D in it. the lighting is great and the drop shadow was just fitting, like a glove.

The second however, is plain, very 2D and too basic.

What's RSS?

Once again you did a good job on these :3 The second one appeals to me more than the first for some reason. Keep it up dude.

Hey nice work man, I really like both of them, undecided on which i like better. Probs both the same just for different styles :D. Not really sure i can give an constructive points as they seem finished to me.
Perhaps the lighter orange circle inside the 1st one could be a little more blended? it seems to be chopped off unless that was the effect you were going for :P

@Zackie RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.
It's a feed basically it allows you to get info from a certain website without having to visit that site, e.g. You only read the 'text' of news messages without having to open the news site itself.

OT:
Yeah I prefer the first one, looks more web 2.0 so to say!
Not saying the second one is bad, but maybe a bit plain (which could be useful though)

One point of C&C, I think the first one is a little bit too dark, I would make it a bit brighter!

GL!

Because i love your first icon, i totally recommend you to make more but more like the first, not the second.

I would suggest a stronger shine at the top, like lighting effect. You made this using flash iamrite?

@Kingsmash: Thanks man, I did put a tiny bit of shading on the second, its just that shading wasn't in the style I was going for. Thatnks for you opinion though!

@Zackie1: Thanks Zackie, (SB answered)

@Nubbeh: THANKS NUBBEH! :3

@Underling: Yea thanks mate, you hit the nail on the head with everything you said there :)

@SB: Thanks! When I first made it, I made it quite a bit lighter, but I didn't think It would fit in that much as light, so I made it darker, thanks for your opinion though!

@Zackie: Ok, I'll try but Ima experiment on a few other styles first. Also, I use PHOTOSHOP Cs4. :D

Thanks for the encouragement and crits guys! I appreciate it. I'll experiment some more tonight, and try and show them to you so I can get some more opinions. At first I prefered the second one, cause I designed it with oldern, antique looking website witha wood finish in mind, however I agree with sb the the first is more web 2.0.

:P

I really like the first one because of the gradients you have used, and how well you have used them!

Second one not so much, but that is mainly because i like lots of detailed and shiny things :L

Anyway I think you should keep it up, you could probably design a slick portfolio site with skills like that

Yeah the third one looks much better!

I like the glossy effect on it! however I would remove the 2 dots on the top right hand corner.
It could be that it's part of the 'official RSS logo' but if that's not the case I would take it out =]

Other than that looks good =]

Hmmm...i really like the glossy effect and i just thought a drop shadow would be more fitting. It's still simple and sweet but not as eye-catchy as the first.

Can't wait for the fourth.

@supperbas: Lol, thanks supperbas. COme to think of it, I got the dots the wrong way round.... they were supposed to be a glinty effect. Maybe it would look a bit better If I had have got it right?

@Zackie: Hmm, Im not sure a drop shadow would suit this one. Thanks!

Final one here. Carbon style

Could be, I'm not that visual so really can't tell if that would look better, but I guess so :P

I really like the carbon style, but you should change the font or make it 'smooth' at least now it looks really bad
I like the colors, and the style of that icon especially the black effect and the carbon 'look' (but I like dark in general so that's probably why)
If you change the font it would be almost perfect hehe ;)

Thanks SB :D

I can't actually make it smoother, even when I change fonts.... I haven't had this experienced photoshop before, so I would apreciate the answer if anyone knew ?

THanks again.

@Kieran, if you use Adobe Photoshop. and you've the text tool selected in the top bar next to the font family you can change it to something like 'Sharp','Bold','Bolder','Smooth' etc. there is a drop down menu where you can select this from, it's on the same bar.
I'm not sure what it's called though, maybe font weight or something. but if you look at that bar you should be able to find it =]
